STRAIGHT AND WICKED INSTRUMENTAL METAL
Andi the Wicked stands for honest, unpolished heavy metal. No vocals. No clichés. No frills. But full of attitude, depth, and powerful sound.
For almost 20 years, Andreas Dötsch has been a steady presence in the German metal scene as a guitarist, live sound engineer, and stage tech. With bands like Steelpreacher, Wolfen, and The Wicked Chambers, he has made a name for himself. As Andi the Wicked, he follows his own path. He writes instrumental music that tells stories. Music that carries emotion and energy. Music that leaves a mark.
Straight and Wicked instrumental metal stands for uncompromising quality on the guitar. No showboating. No chasing trends. Instead of glossy productions, you get real riffs, raw tones, and a tangible intensity.
Andi’s songs prove that guitar-driven music works even without vocals. Every track creates its own sonic world. Sometimes groovy, sometimes fast, sometimes playful, sometimes dark. But always atmospheric, vibrant, and full of substance.
Live, he convinces with a strong presence, emotional depth, and a clear joy in playing. Whether solo at music fairs or on stage with his band – his shows are an experience for anyone who values real music.
Andi the Wicked isn’t polished or tailored. He’s real. And that’s exactly what makes his music worth hearing.

Sexually Transmitted Mojo is Andi the Wicked’s second solo album - and a self-confident, playful and powerful homage to over twenty years of heavy metal experience. After his debut “Freak on Frets”, the guitarist from the Middle Rhine Valley presents himself wilder, more complex and at the same time more structured than ever before. Created during the worldwide lockdown, this album is an honest appraisal: what does metal sound like when you live it instead of just playing it?
Instead of sterile drum loops, this time Andi relies on real drumming by Jan Hinz (Skelfir, Apothic, among others). This gives the nine tracks more depth, more groove, more surprise. From the eruptive force of “Staccato Mayhem” to the narrative tension of “Just a Tale” and the epic centerpiece “Four Chapters” - this album is not a typical guitarist solo album, but a raw, varied instrumental work with its own character.
Andi remains true to himself: straight and wicked instrumental metal without sound trends and showmanship, but with bite, humor and a lot of mojo.
Released: 2016
Freak On Frets is not a typical guitarist’s album. Instead of endless solo escapades, Andi the Wicked delivers instrumental heavy metal with bite, structure and personality. The album is an invitation to anyone who loves guitar music but doesn’t want a test of patience.
What was originally intended as a musical accompaniment for guitar masses has quickly developed into an independent work with recognition value. The songs were written with the aim of showcasing the sound of new guitar models - the result is an album that does just that: show what is possible. And without getting lost in self-promotion.
The opener “That Rocks” already makes it clear what it’s all about: riffs, hooks, groove and joy of playing. “The Shark Song” shines with tongue-in-cheek humor and ZZ TOP flair, while the ten-minute “Threat” impressively proves how varied instrumental metal can sound - from jazzy moments to rousing anthemic passages. The finale “Porn” rounds off the album with a dose of humor and a lot of forward momentum.
Freak On Frets stands for catchiness instead of egotism. For musical storytelling instead of a storm of scales. For honest heavy metal with replay value.
Released: 2014
Now the live show takes it to the next level. With Jan Hinz on drums and Ebi on bass, Andi the Wicked brings his songs to the stage as a trio. What sounds intense and powerful in the studio becomes an electrifying experience live - raw, direct and full of expression.
Three musicians, one shared pulse. The songs gain more weight, more movement, more character on stage. Sometimes tight and precise, sometimes open and playful. But always gripping. Andi’s guitar playing unfolds a new depth in interplay with Jan and Ebi. The foundation of drums and bass creates space for details, dynamics and real tension.
The grooves get under your skin, the riffs grab you, the dynamics pull you in. What counts here is what happens when three instruments connect and tell stories together. Without words but with feeling.
Live this creates an energy that cannot be explained. You can feel it.
Straight and Wicked instrumental Metal - now as a band.
Andi the Wicked and his band deliver handcrafted instrumental metal that really ignites live. If you’re into honest music with plenty of power, this is the place to be.
